Zema Group was founded with one belief: that software built by people who genuinely care about quality will always outperform software built at speed alone. Twenty years later, that belief is still what drives every line of code we ship.
Zema Group, Inc. was founded in 2005 in Los Angeles with a clear model: a U.S.-headquartered software company backed by an Armenian engineering team in Yerevan. The idea was simple — combine the client-facing infrastructure and business relationships of an American firm with the deep technical talent of Armenia's engineering community.
For nearly twenty years, that model delivered. We built web and mobile platforms for founders, enterprises, and everything in between — always with real engineers who had real ownership over what they built. The Armenian tech scene grew around us. Our team grew with it.
Over those two decades, the team delivered for clients including EPSON, Lincoln Motor Company, and Wovenmedia — whose platform was deployed with Sam's Club — as well as the American University of Armenia. In July 2023, Alex Boghossian joined as co-founder to lead the company's next chapter.
That chapter is AI. Not bolted on top of old workflows — redesigned around it. Today, Zema is a 45-person team across both offices, all of them trained in agentic AI tools, all of them still doing the work that requires a person.
Dr. Zarik Boghossian — Founder & CEO
An Armenian born in Iran, Dr. Boghossian immigrated to the United States alone in 1978 with $500 in his pocket. He worked multiple jobs while putting himself through college — then spent the next four decades building in aerospace, AI, digital media, and beyond.
Among his most significant achievements: leading development of the mission-critical Electric Power System Flight Software for NASA's International Space Station, launched in 1998 and still in operation today. He has also served for more than 18 years as a professor at Pepperdine University.
